1969 AMX
It is said that the 1969 AMX offered the best race setup that Detroit ever produced in a production vehicle and 1969 was the most popular year for the AMX.
There were three different versions of the AMX offered in 1969 and all offered the consumer great speed and performance. The standard AMX, the “Big Bad” AMX, and the AMX SS gave the car lover a wide variety of engine choices, transmission choices and body styling.
However, one thing to note is that the 1969 AMX did not have many improvements or modifications over other model years. The majority of changes to this car were in fact cosmetic, such as changes in paint colors, optional leather upholstery and passenger dash handles.
Regardless, this car was accepted as a drag racers dream. This was due to the fact that the AMX and the Javelin were so closely related in part styling that they could be interchangeable. This made repairs very affordable on the AMX and muscle car enthusiasts welcomed the options available with this car.
If you were to find this car today in excellent condition, you should probably pay around $24,000 for it. You can add another $10,000 if it is the “Big Bad” version. This car would be a great project for any enthusiast.
