1974 GTO

True car lovers and enthusiasts recognize a jewel when they see one.  This is one reason the 1974 GTO is so celebrated.

By the year 1974 the muscle car era was technically over.  Economic conditions and high insurance costs were moving the car companies to design cars that were smaller and have better fuel efficiency.  Therefore, except for aficionados, no one was particularly sad over the demise of the muscle car.  However, there was the 1974 GTO which is one of the rarest cars that you can find today.  The GTO was a muscle car and it was officially the last of its kind.

The performance of the 1974 GTO was also good and it handled and rode well.  This car was modeled after the Pontiac Ventura and a coupe and hatchback model were offered.  This car also offered a variety of engines and transmission options and the true car enthusiast understood that this 1974 GTO was just as good as the 1964 model, which was the original year of its inception.

Sadly, this was the last year the GTO was seen.  Fortunately, Pontiac brought back the brand in 2004 as muscle cars and performance vehicles made a brand new comeback.
